Ruby Chestnut

Ruby Allison Chestnut passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023.

After moving to Terre Haute on February 2, 2008, the smiling three year old Australian Cattle Dog, who was known at her two rescues as “Allie,” embraced life to the fullest.  Ruby walked the city parks, visited art galleries, shopped at bookstores, participated in parades and begged to go to the car wash.

Ruby loved everyone, unless they were riding bicycles or skateboards, ringing the doorbell or delivering water softener salt.  Her epicurean tastes centered on the Cracker Barrel, McDonald's, Square Donuts, and Texas Roadhouse.   Most of all, she loved eating Twizzlers and dozens of her friends delighted in keeping her well-supplied.

Thank you, especially to Bill and  to Carl, Dianne, Mary and Daniel, Skitz, Sue and Max, Tammy and Todd, and many other locals for joining Ruby’s mom, Colleen, in pampering her.  Thank you, Cheryl, for your exhaustive prayers for and healing work on Ruby.  Thank you also to Dogster pals, Alison, Geri and Ron and Laura, and the countless other pals for their 15+ years of friendship.  The kindness of every one of you can never be forgotten.

Good night, sweet princess,
And flights of angels sing you to thy rest.

Ruby has re-joined her beagle hound brother, Jimmy, and her beloved daddy, Jim Silver.   May they continue to rest together in Heavenly peace.
